Level 1 Parts 1 and 2 are available in separate simplified- and traditional-character versions in recognition of the fact that teaching novice learners both character sets can be overwhelming. For these volumes, the texts are available in the alternate character format in the Appendix. Please note that each version should be used together with the corresponding workbook (i.e. the simplified textbook corresponds to the simplified workbook).
Level 2 Parts 1 and 2 include both traditional- and simplified-characters to expose students to both forms of written Chinese. In the textbook and the workbook, dialogues, vocabulary lists, example sentences, and questions are all shown side-by-side in both formats.
In the character workbooks, characters that appear in both traditional and simplified forms are displayed on the page in equal size.
