Cheng & Tsui, the leading publisher of Asian languages and cultures educational materials, is currently looking for a part-time Project Traffic Coordinator with superb coordination skills to join our blended (print and digital) learning solutions team.
Our new hire will work closely with both internal staff and external stakeholders on a diverse range of projects, both print and digital. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and highly proactive with 3+ years of project coordination experience and strong organizational and communications skills.
 Takes ownership of assigned projects; including creating and monitoring schedules coordinating timing of deliverables and prioritization of workload from inception to completion
 Creates and maintains detailed tracking reports for each project, both print and digital
 Updates job specifications over the lifecycle of projects
 Arranges meetings with stakeholders as required  Provides status updates, including daily alerts and weekly status reports  Maintains all records for each account and project, both print and electronic
 Coordinates communication between internal and external contacts for digital and print jobs
 3+ years of project traffic coordination experience, with experience in print and digital publishing preferred
 Ability to recognize, prioritize, and focus on critical tasks and adapt as needed
 Knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and Jira board
 Excellent knowledge of project traffic systems and operations
 Ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment
 Excellent in-person and written facilitation skills
 Collaborative and team-oriented with a proactive attitude

Managing Editor (Full-Time or Part-Time)

Leading publisher of educational materials in the areas of Asian languages and cultural studies for the K-12 and higher education markets seeks a skilled Managing Editor to join its growing team to oversee the company’s daily publishing operations. You will supervise writers, editors, and other staff for both print and digital products, work in close collaboration with the Curriculum Development Manager, and report to the Publisher.

A managing editor combines the creativity of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager. We expect excellent organizational and leaderships skills as well as a unique problem-solving ability.

Primary Responsibilities


Work with Curriculum Development Manager to help conceptualize and manage the development of K-12 and College print and online language-learning materials.

Participate in the planning, budgeting, and scheduling of new projects and revisions.

Help create project briefs and writing guidelines for authors and freelancers based on approved product plan.

Project Management

Establish detailed schedules and assignments for new projects and revisions.

Execute project plans on time and according to schedule by enforcing deadlines.

Manage department workflow and reprioritize or reassign work as needed to meet publication dates.

Communicate with relevant parties as needed to execute project plans.

Assist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance to standards, style, tone.

Team Management and Training

Hire, train, and supervise the in-house editorial team and external freelancers.

Review copy editing and proofreading skills and procedures and edit copy when necessary.

Oversee direct reports and project participants to ensure project dates are being met.

Help identify, communicate, and resolve issues as they arise.

Ensure that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and handled thoroughly and accurately.

Write and update editorial training materials.


Update and/or develop processes and procedures to ensure efficient workflow within editorial, production, and digital teams.

Create and manage systems to track project progress and proactively identify problems and issues that need to be resolved.

Primary Requirements

Minimum two years of experience managing all facets of editorial, production, and digital teams and vendors.

Background in textbook publishing for the K-12 and college markets, preferably in the area of world languages.

Must be proficient in English, with exceptional copy editing, developmental editing, and proofreading skills.

Love for education with knowledge of foreign language pedagogy strongly preferred; Asian languages a plus.

Knowledge of ebooks, video, online learning platforms, distance learning, and other emerging educational technologies.

Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy while understanding the big picture.

Ability to plan and set up schedules from scratch for new projects and revisions.

Proven record of meeting deadlines and budgets while maintaining the highest level of quality control.

Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style, electronic proofreading workflow in Adobe Acrobat, and standard proofreading and editing marks.

Excellent planning, communication, and leadership skills, especially training, guiding, and motivating staff working on large scale and evolving products.

Ability to wear multiple hats, be flexible, and work collaboratively within a changeable and demanding environment.
