How is grammar taught in this series?

While the first two volumes place a strong emphasis on spoken Chinese, the focus shifts to written Chinese in Volumes 3-4, and students are exposed to more Chinese grammar.

The grammar introduced in Chinese Odyssey is graded in terms of level of difficulty, and difficult grammar points usually appear more than once: first to introduce basic concepts and later with increasingly detailed explanations and practice.

The grammar points in each lesson are introduced in order from simple to complex and are displayed in chart form with plenty of supporting examples. Practice exercises in the grammar sections allow students to immediately apply what they have learned.

To see for yourself how the series handles grammar, sample lessons are available under the Previews tab on the main series’ page.
