Worksheet Activities: Option 1
Because 2026 is the Year of the Horse, symbolizing vitality, speed, beauty, and energy, we chose to introduce two 马 idioms that express such positivity: The idiom “马到成功” is commonly used to wish for smooth progress and quick success, while “龙马精神” describes someone who is energetic, motivated, and positive. Both idioms can serve as a natural way to introduce the importance and prevalence of idioms in Chinese language and culture. Since these two idioms are not specific to the Spring Festival, please feel free to use them at any time during the school year, as you see fit.
Worksheet Activities: Option 2
Many Cheng & Tsui textbooks include content related to the Spring Festival. We are sharing two supplementary reading passages, along with accompanying activities, from two of our publications for your use.
From Integrated Chinese with Supplemental Reading, Vol 2, Lesson 13: “Celebrating the Spring Festival Abroad” From Snapshots: Mini-Stories for Beginning Chinese, Vol. 1, Lesson 7: “Celebrating the Spring Festival”
