Description

The revised 2nd Edition of the Mirai Stage 5 Course Book is suitable for students who have already studied Japanese for three or four years. It is part of a complete six-stage Japanese series for secondary schools. The Mirai Stage 5 Course Book reviews much of the material covered in Mirai Stage 3 & 4 to account for variations in the number of classroom hours devoted to learning Japanese in the lower grades.

Written for a mixed-ability classroom, Mirai features clear explanations of language structures, idiomatic expressions and appropriate language use. Stage 5 focuses on the everyday life of an exchange student, such as writing letters and emails, celebrating holidays with a host family, enjoying Japanese entertainment, and learning about social issues.. Each of the four parts, comprising ten units in total, begins with a Learning Outcomes section that helps to focus the lesson. The I’ve Got It! section at the end of each part gives students a sense of accomplishment. Each unit comprises an Explanation Corner that explains key concepts and expressions, group and individual activities, study hints, information on Japan, hiragana practice, and much more. Comics, music, and games support learning along the way. Authentic photos and maps are also presented in context so that students gain an appreciation of Japanese culture and language.  In Stage 5, writing and kanji practice is emphasized.

The revised 2nd Edition offers additional speaking exercises and more challenging reading and listening comprehension passages, reflects worldwide technological changes, and includes a greater range of text types.
