Pintone 2007 is a Windows®-compatible program that converts Chinese characters to romanized pinyin with tones, or pinyin syllables to characters, all with a quick click of a button within Microsoft® Word! This Big5/GB software uses components developed by Chin-chuan Cheng, University of Illinois, Urbana; Jun Da, University of Texas; and Shou-hsin Teng, Taiwan Normal University. The installer was compiled by Jin-xi Lin, Taiwan Normal University. Minimum requirements: Windows® 98 or higher, Microsoft® Word 2000 or higher, 128 MB RAM, 8x CD-ROM drive, 90 MB free hard drive space.

Note:

Installing the current version of this software may de-activate the Ctrl+C (copy) and Ctrl+V (paste) hot keys in Microsoft Word. Hot key functions can be restored by un-installing Pintone 2007.

An integrated reference package at your fingertips, Wenlin includes a Chinese/English/Chinese dictionary (in both simplified and traditional characters), a robust text editor, and unique "flashcard" system in one unified, extremely user-friendly application. Instant "point to" vocabulary look-up and "click" access to detailed vocabulary information are top features, but Wenlin also enables cross-referencing abilities, drills and reviews, stroke-by-stroke character display, and handwriting recognition. Automated drill and review includes scoring, tracking, interactive testing, multiple-choice and composed-answer. Unicode, GB, Big5, and UTF-8 encodings are supported. Zou Ba is a fun and interactive beginning Chinese software program that runs right in your Internet browser! A compliment to Chinese language classes or as a stand-alone product, Zou Ba contains over one thousand activities in twenty-four units per disk. Cultural elements, the voices of native speakers and a dictionary make Zou Ba a comprehensive approach to learning Chinese.
