Basic Rules
The official rules are available below, but here are the basics that you need to know before entering:
Eligibility
- You must be currently enrolled in or teaching a Chinese language course in order to enter this contest.
- If you are under 13 years old, you must have your parent or legal guardian submit the signed permission form.
- You can only enter this contest once - so if you're in the running with a group entry - don't submit a solo performance as well.
Video Submission Guidelines
You need to submit your video by November 9th in order to to be considered - you'll have until midnight EST.
- Of course, the performance should primarily be in Chinese.
- The vocals on the video should be your own (you can edit your video, or pre-record the vocals, but no substitutions or other digital manipulation).
- As you'll be submitting your videos on YouTube - you're subject to all of their terms of use.
- Use a karaoke track for your song, rather than signing over the original - the judges want to hear you!
- Avoid a "Parental Advisory" rating - if your video contains offensive language, or any other inappropriate material you might be disqualified.
- IMPORTANT - Be respectful of copyrights - YouTube will remove your video if the track you choose is copyrighted - so find a song with an open license or use original music.
Finalists
Solo and group entries will be judged separately.
Twelve finalists will be selected by our judges (6 soloists, and 6 group performances) on November 19, 2008.
Voting
The winning entries will be decided by your votes. Anyone will be able to vote for their favorite finalists on this website November 20-30th, and the winners will be announced on December 1st.
Winners
The solo and group performances with the most votes will be named SuperStar winners, and 2nd place in each category will be named Runner-Up - so there will be four winning videos in all.
