Hanyu

Developed in Australia, Hanyu (meaning “Chinese Language”) is a series of course materials in modern standard Chinese designed for secondary schools. This widely used and much-revised course takes a communicative approach, integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Hanyu is functionally based on an underlying grammatical progression, laying foundations and building upon previous knowledge as the series advances. Activity books, character writing books and audio cassettes help students in strengthening the skills developed from the main texts. The series is offered in simplified characters with pinyin.

The revised edition introduces characters from the first unit, reduces the use of pinyin in stages, and contains practice exercises for all four basic skills.
