Chinese Breakthrough

Chinese Breakthrough is an audio-visual program for students at the intermediate-to-advanced level and emphasizes language learning through the use of Mandarin Chinese television programs.

The fully annotated ensemble (DVDs, audiotapes, textbook, workbook, and CD-ROM) provides authentic journalistic Chinese in printed form and in the rapidly-spoken form of radio and TV news broadcasters. It is divided into fifteen lessons of increasing difficulty organized around four topics: Daily News and Current Events, Business and Economic News, News of Cultural Affairs, and News from the World of Sports. Practice exercises and vocabulary review accompany each lesson. The DVD, audio cassettes, CD-ROM, and workbook create an interactive learning experience and bring to life language and culture acquisition.
