Authors Wayne Wenchao He, a professor with over twenty years of experience and currently at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and Dela Jiao, Senior Lecturer of Chinese language at New York University, will discuss the innovative teaching approach that uses computer Chinese as a learning tool and fifth language skill. The authors will cover the basic concepts behind this teaching method, why it's relevant and effective, and how this method can be incorporated into the classroom using examples from their textbook series, Chinese for Tomorrow.

Authors Jiaying Howard, professor of Chinese at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and Lanting Xu, Mandarin Chinese teacher at Bellarmine College Preparatory in California, will discuss and give examples of how to create a sequenced lesson plan for high school Chinese classes. Using materials from their new textbook series, Huanying, the authors will demonstrate how to incorporate effective and engaging activities into your curriculum, giving students practice in all four language skills.

Looking for the perfect supplemental reading or classroom activity to correspond with a lesson from one of our textbooks? Want to share resources with other users? Then look no further! The community companion sites contain a variety of resources, including textbook-specific activities and supplements, along with general materials for learning and teaching. You may browse resources by volume or lesson or by who posted them (Cheng & Tsui or other members). Whether you have a fun class activity or a useful set of flashcards, PeerSource enables and encourages you to post them and share them with others.

Forums
Network with others who have similar interests in Asian languages and cultures on these open-ended discussion boards — whether you're looking for classroom ideas, study tips, or a place to talk about current issues in teaching or technology. We've also provided a simple framework for discussions relating to particular books or common topics.

Comments and tags
Just as in other online communities, you can rate, tag, and post comments on individual resources. Every resource has it's own "Comments" tab, where you can add your own thoughts and keywords. Cheng & Tsui is celebrating Chinese language and culture with Cheng & Tsui SuperStar, our first national karaoke contest for Chinese language students and teachers.

Submit your video at www.cheng-tsui.com/superstar from October 1st to November 9th, 2008.

To be eligible to enter you must be enrolled in or teach a Chinese language class. All video submissions must be in Chinese and will be judged on creativity, pronunciation, talent, and of course, star power.

First and second place will be given to the best solo and group performances.
