As part of the web development and IT team working in a small but growing publishing company, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying new web projects as well as extending existing applications. In addition, you will help with managing other information systems and technology functions within the company.
Responsibilities
Web Developer
- Plan, build, test, and debug new web applications
- Modify and/or improve existing applications built on Drupal
- Optimize existing web designs and create new ones
- Produce graphic and flash assets, and fill in the gaps when needed
- Maintain web analytics on websites and email marketing campaigns
- Collaborate with marketing and editorial in gathering content
- Meet with company members as well as outside clients to develop an understanding of client requirements
- Research and Development on new concepts, technologies and vendors
- Participate in brainstorming and concept development
IT Analyst
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support for both customer inquiries about software products as well as help internal staff with any software or technical problems
- Maintain online knowledge bases and relevant support documents
- Assist with network administration and security when needed
General
- Handle day-to-day management of assigned projects and prioritize workload to ensure project deadlines are met
- Work as a team player with others in the company
- Direct the activities of production on projects (large or small), and act as a mentor to others when needed
- Capable of comprehending, analyzing and communicating the ‘big picture’ to others
- Stay current with web and other technology trends and be ready to apply them when needed
- Exhibit creative problem-solving skills with an eye for detail and accuracy
Qualifications
- In depth job experience in HTML, CSS, XML, PHP, SQL/MySQL required
- Experience with an open source CMS, Drupal experience preferred
- Experience with e-commerce, SEO and web analytics
- Pixel and vector-based graphic design skills (Adobe CS3)
- Planner who is highly organized with ability to multi-task and produce results with accuracy and timeliness
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, but also good at collaboration, taking direction, and working with others
- Must be a strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skiils; able to write documentation
- Desired but not required: JavaScript (especially JQuery library), AJAX/AHAH, Flash, CiviCRM, Unix/Linux, Apache, basic server administration knowledge
