Marketing and Customer Service Specialist (Full-time)

POSITION: Marketing and Customer Service Specialist (Full-time)

FUNCTION:  You will spend part of your time in the marketing department writing press releases and coordinating conferences and part of your time in customer service providing excellent customer service, order entry, inside sales, invoicing, data entry for a growing publisher and distributor of Asian studies educational materials.

JOB DUTIES:

Marketing:

  • Write press releases and book announcements and send them to appropriate media outlets and organizations.
  • Maintain the database of media contacts, including researching new publications we should be sending press releases to.
  • Interact with organizers of various language and Asia-related conferences in order to find out details about exhibiting at the conferences.
  • Prepare materials needed for conferences and coordinate shipment of materials to them.
  • Make travel arrangements for personnel traveling to conferences.
  • Track sales and expenses at conferences.
  • Work with the Promotions Coordinator in creating ads for conference programs.
  • Maintain the conference database, including researching new conferences we should be attending or sending materials to.
  • Attend conferences as needed, setting up and taking down the exhibit booth, talking to customers about textbook needs, and selling our product.
  • Compile conference reports and generate these reports for conferences personally attended.
  • Provide other support as needed in the marketing department.

Customer Service:

  • Interact with individuals, school administrators, teachers, and bookstores, both over the phone and by email.
  • Answer customer queries about products, orders, and our policies.
  • Help to solve customer issues and problems.
  • Enter orders into our ordering system and process returns.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong written and verbal skills with demonstrated writing experience required.
  • Experience in customer service and dealing with customer issues.
  • Familiarity with data entry, word-processing and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Capable of working quickly and efficiently while at the same time paying attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an apptitude for multitasking.
  • Ability to execute up-sell and cross-sell programs as instructed.
  • Able to work well in a team setting and a fast-paced environment.
  • A talent for problem-solving.
  • Minimal overnight travel may be required.
  • Strong interest in books and Asian bilingual speaker a plus.
